From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Altruism is either a practice or habit (in the view of many, a virtue) as well as an ethical doctrine.
Altruism can refer to:
- Being helpful to other people with little or no interest in being rewarded for one's efforts (the colloquial definition). This is distinct from merely helping others.
- Actions that benefit others with a net detrimental or neutral effect on the actor, regardless of the actor's own psychology, motivation, or the cause of her actions. This type of altruistic behavior is referred to in ecology as Commensalism.
- an ethical doctrine that holds that individuals have a moral obligation to help others, if necessary to the exclusion of one's own interest or benefit. One who holds such a doctrine is known as an "altruist."
Ask yourself:
Are you an Altruist?
What does it take to be one?
What is the power of one?
Have a wonderful Holiday Season from all of us at InterVol!

Shipment to the Ukraine
Monday December 5th 2005 InterVol, teaming with local Great Commission in His Service, shipped a container of supplies to the Ukraine.
The medical supplies in this shipment were orthopedic supplies, walkers, crutches, and canes.
InterVol's donations are not limited to medical supplies---in this shipment we sent badly needed bunkbeds and mattresses for dormatory style lodging in a Ukraine orphanage. This shipment contained over 40 bunkbeds and 80+ mattresses.
Thank you to local humanitarian and InterVol friend Gary Dano for your continual support.
